Creating a new bill in T&M Pro involves uploading three core project data files and saving them into a project file with a [.tmproject]
extension. This setup defines the billing rates, logic and formatting and is required before inputting any job data.
You’ll need the following three essential files to get started:
Price Data File (.bdata
)
Contains all billable labor, material, equipment, and specialty item definitions and rates.
Project Settings File (.xml
)
Defines billing rules, premium labor logic, invoice structure, and allocation settings.
Admin File (.xml
)
Sets project identifiers, invoice headers, logos, remit-to details, and additional metadata.
From the main toolbar, click Create New Bill.
The dialog contains multiple tabs; you’ll use two of them in this process.
Under the Create New Bill tab, you’ll see dropdown menus for:
Price Data
Project Settings
Admin File
If your files appear in the dropdown menus, simply select them.
If a file is not listed, continue to Step 3 to manually select and upload it.
Click on the Upload Data Files tab.
Use the Browse button next to the file type you want to add.
Locate the file on your machine and click Open.
Then click Upload.
Under the Create New Bill tab:
Use the dropdown menus to select your Price Data, Project Settings, and Admin files.
Click Create and Save Bill File to Project Folder.
Name your new file and save it to your preferred location. The bill file will be saved as a [.tmproject]
Once saved, T&M Pro creates a new, empty bill environment with all associated pricing logic, rules, and project identifiers embedded.
Locate your Project Folder or Create a New Folder for the Project if you haven't already done so.
Once your project folder is chosen/created, open the folder. At the bottom of the dialog, give this file a name and then click SAVE
Your working bill file is now active and will display a Current Bill Total of $0.00
.
You can now begin importing cost data (Labor, Materials, Equipment, etc.) and using the input pages.
All future changes are saved into the .tmproject
file.
